Radical Affordability
Making low energy and sustainable buildings and systems affordable is the key to widespread adoption. Peter has personally designed more LEED platinum projects than any other engineer precisely because of this philosophy. In a determined and focused approach, Peter attacks cost inefficiencies. His design of the first state office building to reach LEED platinum, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, did so with no additional allocation of funds beyond the cost of a standard state office building. The key to this success is to downsize equipment through better design. Lower friction and better control of solar loads in buildings are but two examples of the long list of strategies that Peter employs to achieve an optimized and affordable system.
